Externship May.4
My internship will be at Retail opportunity investment corp. What I am excited for is coming back to the office and working with great people that I'm already used too like Johnny. I am not nervous at all due to the fact I have previous work experience and I am in a environment i'm used to. My mentor is Rick Gierke, he works in the I.T department and is full of advice on business that many do not think about. He hasnt got back to advice because he knows Johnny and I have always came up with good ideas for work.
May.9 (Day 1 pt.2)
What strikes me the most of the work place is how everything is pretty much the same since last year other than the fact all of the offices are filled up now. What I like about this years internship is the idea of working in a actual office and not a dead silent office like last year. What I like about this years job is working along side the business colleagues I feel like I learn much about my mentor and it is nice to learn along side other business people, they are very productive that is why this office moves so smoothly. What strikes me about working with I.T is how interactive it is with the business and how we are the department that people depend on to move forward on their work. My project plan would be make the office more organized and have a better understanding on computers, i'm excited to be working along side Johnny and having a closer relationship with the ROIC staff . I personally do not get nervous in the work environment, but I would say a fear would be screwing up production around the office like if I mess up a computer or slow a computer down at work. This externship is more about environmental work space study more than anything and I feel my mentor will do a great job to show the perfect sides of a business.
May.11 (A day in the office)
Working in a office is so much more different from school in many ways. To start the office is much more productive and everyone in the office has the same common goal with their careers, while school has students with different objectives or different career paths which could bring more creativity, but can cause a slack in production. Every grew up to know what they want to do for the rest of their lives and that has a much happier environment because everyone wants to be here. The skills i'm developing is attitude for my work and having a nicer feel to my work peers. Another skill is just understanding how important technology is to a business especially growing businesses, It creates less stress to workers and can really create a better work progress. Every day is a productive day and our mentor is really nice when it comes to short visits because everyone is a busy person so most of the tour would be with us, but any day would be fine. We have already been working on the office computers and even created a new work space for someone and set up of the office programs such as 'Windows office 365', we have a comfortable feeling in the office and we hardly close to never screw up haha.

May. 16 (Enough time)
I am really glad I came back to do this internship, this year I am learning much more about the administration side of I.T and the business in general and it's really beneficial due to the idea I want to study Business Administration and Marketing with a BA on real estate. In ROIC I typically have a new project every week focusing that in business there's always something to do and 1 project for a whole month is to much time. Last week I created office work spaces and focused on computer software, on week #2 we made an inventory list. It is more than enough time to complete this task, we actually complete our task faster than a week and the people at ROIC are always impressed by our work ethics.

May.23
Well personally my work ethics at the office have grown a lot more to see my fellow co-workers work so hard and they value the work that they do in the office. I advocate myself by working on goals that I have been slacking in high school and apply them in the work that I do such as just working on getting to work on time, and just try to complete task independently. I worked on the inventory of this company for about a week with Johnny and we completed this task fairly fast and that is what I try to work on with my company is just for efficiency and improve the work place.
May.25
This is our main job at the office is working on inventory and then fixing computers on the side, we work on improving our software and creating a better work experience work the people that use the computers that we fix. As you can see as well we love to get snacky.
We also create work spaces for people in the office, we build more comfortable settings by applying a stand up desk on peoples work spaces this internship we made and set up about 5 of these kinds of offices. We increase even a persons health just by standing and working, so we create changes around the office.
The inventory was the biggest task we got this internship, we worked on completing a full list with all of the pictures of our computers, laptops, printers, and scanner. We made it easier on the company to have an inventory list.
May.30
Rick Gierke started out in UC Berkeley then after time he decided to join the Navy, later getting his degree in I.t from University of Phoenix, he started his interest in Computers in the navy. He knows much of computers and started out in ROIC very early. What I learned with this company is the attitude of Rick and everyone on how the want to advance their company, but not only in their community , but to the public eye as well. They work to create better business opportunity for other companies such as restaurants or food chains. My own academics have helped me worked better with the employees and taught me better communication skills for my future work environment. My biggest take away would be to see how they run their successful business and apply that to my own business. This externship showed me an interest in investing and have decided since last year that I would like to take a side degree in real estate to look for real estate opportunity.
Jun.1
I measure my work at ROIC by just the overall progress I had in the office, I have built so many computer work stations, and completed the inventory fully of the office in San Diego. My biggest contribution to the office was the inventory, I took lot of effort and time on this project and it took a lot of communication skills to complete, what I learned through this was the importance of company organization and how just having all of your products organized can help you insurance wise. This work was valid to teach me better work communication skills learning different branches of the company, from learning numbers in accounting or learning how the business works from the Chief Financial Officer. Well my internship offers job property for businesses to run their job and giver fair rent, it comes with complication but my internship showed a great idea on business investments in property. I learn on what kind of person am I when it comes to work that I don't like to play around and I like to take my job serious , but in a humble way that I still show I have much to learn and can do better.
Working is tough. What I happen to realize its hard being a working adult, I learn to appreciate how much my parents and staff work hard for me and I see that the way they work hard influenced me to be working hard as well. What I saw how people work around me was all the same trait, effort and respect for their peers. They are so nice to each other not like in school how you just value your time with your friends or so, in the working field I learned its a team based effort that everyone needs to cooperate to better as a whole company. Externship showed me a new way to learn all about a business from fields you aren't familiar with the direction this externship will lead me is take the skills I learned here and apply to my own business.
