"Good Job"
P.O.L PREP 2Working is tough. What I happen to realize its hard being a working adult, I learn to appreciate how much my parents and staff work hard for me and I see that the way they work hard influenced me to be working hard as well. What I saw how people work around me was all the same trait, effort and respect for their peers. They are so nice to each other not like in school how you just value your time with your friends or so, in the working field I learned its a team based effort that everyone needs to cooperate to better as a whole company. How I feel like i've notice the trait is in project based learning when I was in a group and I treated my members with respect because when we are all respectful and hard working we can accomplish millions just as ROIC does with their staff. Internship helped me learn more about a business than I already know, it was very fascinating to learn about retail and I.T. What did help a lot is that I saw there are many opportunity's for me in different business areas not just Wholesale. A skill I need to improve on in my future is to understand when its time to get to work and how to have fun in a nice non distracting way. P.O.L Prep 1The following contribution, I made fellow upgrades to office computers which was a nice feeling to have knowing that when I'm gone my contribution would still follow into place after many years, until its time to upgrade or erase data from the computer of course. What I loved most of all is the fact that I made my own office computer for a new employee to use so its like a way of saying goodbye and helping the company out with a new working employee work station. What I loved about the intern opportunity is that I get to use the skills that I learned here at work and used them in my own work field and it help learn more of field of the future business which is technology. What stood out to me honestly was the fact that I grew up so much in bond with the working field and I felt really comfortable around everyone at work and it felt good knowing I can trust people at work with my stuff and they trust me on working ton their computers. What I loved about my projects was the fact that I had a daily practice everyday so it lead me up to this moment to work on the employees work station as if I was trained everyday to do this moment. I learned very quickly made a few mistakes but my mentor Rick G. taught me that in the I.T field making mistakes is okay. He taught me very valuable work ethics that I would use for the rest of my life and I really hope I made him proud. What I learned which was the most important about myself as a worker is that I can do anything long as I save my money up and be the best I can be at any job that I work at, even if i'm unfamiliar with it.
"Taxes..What are those?"Internship and school is much more different. In school its more based of getting for college and learning new material that can help us do better in our college life. While working is just that, work. I learned a lot these past couple of weeks and I feel like I a going to treasure those moments because I know that school wont teach me, HALF of what I learned through out this month. What I can bring back to school is my way of working patiently and understanding people are different pace so I can learn to use this skill for my school life . Also my new knowledge of I.T can help me improve my skills in my tech field during projects and problem solving myself. The only thing that I can see a teacher doing to improve on communicating on the working field sometimes like actually have a connection with the students about working and how to do REAL life necessities that we should learn in school how to do, like how to save money, how to pay taxes fairly, and much more.
"Credit" (Blogs report)After reading after my Peers blogs at their internship it made me realize something. The work is just hard overall and I love how HTHI prepares us with that idea that we would be working for the rest of our lives and I like to see how much effort my peers are putting in into their internships. Mia, she stands out by working very hard with children and she shows what it really means to be teacher and to look through the eyes of a teacher. Mauricio, he is very determined to give all of his efforts to make sure the company he works with is satisfied with his work, he shows full commitment with a lot of passion in his work. Kaylee, She is hard working girl that shows you the meaning of being an adult she makes no excuses for herself to avoid her job she wakes up just as early as I to give more than the full effort she is required to do. She puts her responsibility's first before herself, and these people are the true meaning of being a working adult.
"Slow day"At work today, It felt like time was going very slowly. All we did today was work on a new office dual screen computer that would be given to a new employee on the 1st of February. While working on that we were also working on opening up a new computer desktop that had some dust problems. We learned how to clean out a dusty computer as well. Other than that we set up a email and new system for the computer. That was all for today. "Future"While at internship, I've learn many new things in just a few short days. The feeling of not being at school for almost a whole month, is actually satisfying. I love working more than school, at internship I get to work on a subject that I actually enjoy doing while at school I learn subjects that don't really imply to my actual career. The difference between my school week and work week is that at school I feel more in control at work while I work I mostly do stuff that I'm told to do for my education. I feel that school helped me to do to is to be social enough to talk thanks to POLS and all the projects, and here at work I do many projects. My responsibility here at worker is much greater than at school because school is more leaning on the teacher for help while at work you have to depend on yourself to get the work done and on time and in perfect condition. I wake up 2 hours early to go to work and I love the hours I get and I rather do these hours than my school hours. I do know for a fact that Internship is only temporary, so I know when I leave I'm going to take away my skills as a learner and my skills to be a working person to help improve my school work. Also internship helped me how to build my working skills even much greater to help improve my skills in the work field and improve my I.T skills to much greater heights because of my work experience here. Well I know that my I.T skills will help me at school because at HTHI we use computers a lot so if theirs a problem with my computer at school I learned how to fix a lot of technical problems. What I love about my internship is that there is always something to do here at ROIC. Johnny and I just finished building a personal and upgraded computer for a new employee, that he would be using until its time to upgrade in 3 years. This has to be a proud moment in the working field
"Innovation"I've been at internship for a week now and I have been looking at all the new stuff I would be doing this whole month. What I have seen in the I.T field, that office computers are a major part of working here at ROIC. So our first project would to be building a office computer to set up a new employees personal computer here at the office. We would be learning how to properly build the computer desktop and learning how to upgrade the software and speed of the computer. We would we creating a work space here for our new employee to come. We would be learning how to use better software programs and disable viruses as well our time here. Currently as we speak we just uploaded our windows update into our computer, and add new memory into our hard drive to make our business computer faster. The next couple of steps that we have to take for the next part of our project is to start programming our employees information into our system and to be install security to our computer. What I'm most excited for this project is the fact that my mentor is giving us the opportunity to upgrade office lap tops all by myself and to do just the same as i' doing with this monitor. "...Silence..."Finally feeling comfortable in silence, my work space is odd to some, but I love my space. I work in a 2 building and in 2 offices. The first building is where is where I started of with the accountants in a small cubical with only 2 chairs and nothing on top but Johnny and I's computers and food. The whole building is silent, making one sound is look as a wrong thing to do because they all use their full focus. There is a nice small area to have a kitchen and a huge work space but not necessary just because all work is on a computer. There is a short walkway to all the offices and there is only around 10 people in the accounting building. I walk into the building at 7 and leave either at 1 or 4 depending on my sports schedule or driving schedule. My office is clean and Johnny and I respect the space we are given to work in for the next couple of weeks. Here enjoy the scene of my daily life during Internship! |
